Mathias' Profile...

Mathias graduated with a Master of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia. Prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Health (Physiotherapy) degree from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Netherlands and a Physiotherapy Diploma from the Professor Grewe School in Osnabrück, Germany. He is a registered Physiotherapist under the “Allied Health Professions Council” (AHPC) in Singapore and has worked in several private clinics in Germany and Singapore since 1999. Mathias is an expert in the treatment of sport injuries, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions with more than 20 years of clinical experience.

 

In 1999: Mathias attended a four-week specialization course at the world renowned Földi School and Földi Clinic in Freiburg/Hinterzarten, Germany and became a certified therapist in Manual Lymph Drainage / Complete Decongestive Therapy (MLD/CDT). This concept is one of the most recognized treatment concepts in lymphoedema or swelling management.

In 2001: Mathias completed a 4 week training program at the Brügger Academy in Zurich, Switzerland and was certified as a Diplom-Brügger-Therapist. The Brügger concept is a unique concept focusing on the assessment and treatment of posture related pain syndromes (“Functional diseases of the locomotor system”).

In 2003: Mathias attended a course specializing in utilizing equipment in rehabilitation  whereby he gained certification in  “Medical Recovery Training” in Germany.

In 2001- 2003: Mathias went through a 2-year specialization training and gained certification in Manual Therapy (Kaltenborn Concept).

In 2004: Mathias gained his PNF certification after attending a 3-month Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) -postgraduate training program in Vallejo, California USA where it was first developed. The PNF concept is one of the most recognized physiotherapy concepts specializing in the treatment of neurological conditions such as stroke. It can also be used for orthopaedic conditions.

In 2013:Mathias gained his accreditation as a “Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist” (OMT-DVMT®-Maitland Concept) in Germany. This is one of the highest internationally recognized certifications in manual therapy.

In the same year, Mathias became a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor (CKTI). Since then he conducts Kinesio Taping courses regularly in Singapore and Malaysia.

 

In 2014: Mathias has been undergoing training in Visceral Manipulation at the Barral Institute Singapore and Cranio Sacral Therapy at the Upledger Institut Singapore.

In 2015 he was accredited an “Alternative Practitioner in Physiotherapy” (Germany), which allows him to work as a First Contact Practitioner in Germany.

 

Being a sports enthusiast in his youth, Mathias has over the years in his career developed a strong passion in Sports Rehabilitation. Mathias has participated in competitive sports such as soccer, tennis, gymnastics and table tennis in his hometown in Germany.

 

And in recent years, he has developed a strong interest in pain science, chronic pain management and the treatment of temporomandibular joint (jaw) disorders.

In his spare time, he enjoys running, playing soccer and spending time with his family.
